· TYPE LOCALITY. "Middle Kunawur, villages Pangi and Rarung" [NW. Himalaya].
· RANGE. From Asia Minor across Transcaucasia and the mountains of Middle Asia to the Hindu Kush and the NW. Himalaya.
· DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. Transcaucasia, Kopet-Dagh - ssp. nasshreddini Christoph, 1877; Middle Asian mountains to Tarbagatai and Saur - the nominate subspecies.
· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Steppe habitats with rocky ridges and stony slopes at 800-3,500 m a.s.l. Flight period: May-October in one, two or three generations depending on the altitude.
· SIMILAR SPECIES. L. maera: ground colour darker, UNF discal spot faint. L. adrastoides: ground colour darker, UPF with ochreous-yellow spots in both sexes. L. petropolitana: ground colour darker, UPF with a distinctive fine broken line.
