· TYPE LOCALITY. "Bureja-Gebirge" [Bureya River valley, Amur region, Russia].

· SYNONYMS: tristis Bremer, 1861, nom. praeoccup.; tristior Goltz, 1937.

· RANGE. The Amur and Ussuri regions, N. Korea, N. China.

· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Meadows, forest edges, swampy larch forests. Flight period: May-July. Host plant in the Amur region (Graeser, 1888): Neomolinia mandshurica.

· SIMILAR SPECIES. E. cyclopius: UPF double apical eye-spot with an ochreous or reddish border; UNH with a bluish postdiscal band. E. edda: UPF double apical eye-spot with a diffuse yellowish (in females) or reddish (in males) border, blind or with very small white dots.
